Vista MP3 Recorder is a simple yet complete audio recorder for Windows. The application is able to record just about any sound from your soundcard or microphone and save it in several formats. It is particularly useful to record live podcasts, audio streams from the web, sound from your audio player, audio chats, and basically any audio that you hear on your PC. It is also capable of capturing audio from external sources such as tape players, DVDs, walkmans, etc.
With an interface that looks simple and user friendly, this app allows you to record audio in MP3, WAV, WMA, RAW, and OGG. You only need to specify a folder where the recordings will be saved and click the red recording button. For each of the supported formats, the program includes a set of options allowing you to adust the recording quality, frequency, bitrate, etc. Also, the application gives you the option to name your recordings with the date or with a custom name.
One of its most interesting features is the 'schedule' option, which allows you to set up a day and hour when you want the app to start a new recording. To use this feature, you just need to enter a date or specify the start and end time for the recording. Another feature that I liked is that it includes hotkey support.
The application is not free, but the trial version allows you to test all its features before you decide whether to buy it.
